Program Description

Event Details

A virtual chess class for kids who have no experience or need a refresher on the basics of chess taught by Team DIG instructor Carter Clayton.  Registration is required as space is limited; once your registration has been confirmed, you can create an account on chess.com, which you will use during the class.

Carter Clayton has been playing competitive tournament chess for 7 years and has loved every minute of it. He helped organize the Webster Hill Elementary School chess club and tournaments. On Friday nights Carter can often be found in a study group with players rated over 2000. He is an avid online player with an all-time highest rating of 2200 on chess.com. He won the middle school chess championship for Connecticut in the 2018-2019 year. Carter has been a member of the New Britain Chess Club for the past six years where he most recently tied for first at their Summer Open 2021 (under 1621 section).
