Loan Periods

Adult new books, tablets, and Kindle eReaders circulate for 2 weeks. DVDs, CDs, and Video Games may be borrowed for one week. Most other materials are loaned for three weeks. Fast View DVDs are loaned for three days. Most Farmington and Barney Library materials may be renewed once if no other patron is waiting for the material. Items may be renewed in person, by phone or online.

Log into your library account by visiting the catalog to check on the current due dates of your items. If you are signed up for e-mail notifications, courtesy reminders are sent two days before an item’s due date.

Limited Quantity Items

The checkout limit for your card is a total of 100 items with select items being available to check out in limited quantities including:

  • 7 DVDs
  • 2 Board Games
  • 1 Museum Pass
  • 1 eReader/Tablet
  • 2 Video Games
  • 2 Library of Things items
  • 1 Kids’ Activity Kit

Fines

The overdue fine rate for most items is $.15 (15 cents) per day with the following exceptions:

  • DVDs $1.00/day
  • Museum Passes $5.00/day
  • Fast View DVD’s (three-day loans) $1.00/day
  • Tablets and Kindles $5.00/day

Holds

Log into your library account by visiting the catalog to place holds, or by contacting us by phone or email. When your holds are available to pick up, you’ll be contacted by email or phone.  Holds will be held for 5 days. 

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loans can be requested by Farmington residents by calling or emailing the Adult department at 860-673-6791 or ill@farmingtonlibraries.org. We only can request items from instate institutions. We obtain all our items from ReQuest, the state library catalog. Items are checked out for three weeks, while DVDs are loaned for 7 days. Patrons are limited to 5 titles per request.
