Event Details
Camila Parias, soprano and Hideki Yamaya, vihuela (ancestor of the modern guitar) explore villancicos, romances, and sonetos of 16th-century Spain by composers Luys Milan, Luys de Narvaez, Alonso Mudarra, and Miguel de Fuenllana. These songs, while close to 500 years old, sound very familiar and deal with relatable subject matters: love, tragedy, humor, and joy. The performers will explain the music, composers, text, and the instrument throughout.
