In this presentation, Michelle Wyman, Dementia Specialist at Hartford HealthCare, will talk about the differences between mild forgetfulness and more serious memory problems, causes of memory loss and when to see a doctor and questions to ask.

Michelle Wyman is a Dementia Specialist who educates professionals, families and caregivers to help them better understand dementia. She provides assessments in the home, office or telephonically which includes teaching tangible practical care strategies. These tools are focused on techniques to improve communication, decrease behaviors and improve understanding of the disease. Michelle connects persons with dementia and their caregivers to services and assists with long-range planning. Caring for persons with dementia is not intuitive and requires an individualized approach. Michelle works closely with families to develop successful care strategies to decrease caregiver stress/burden, promote safety and improve quality of life.

This program is presented in partnership with Hartford HealthCare as part of the Community Health Series.
