Program Description

Event Details

Local history researcher Betty Coykendall will present an engaging program on the Farmington residents who served during the opening years of the American Revolution, with a special focus on 1775–1777. Drawing from extensive archival research, Coykendall brings to life the stories of the men who answered the call to serve.

Beyond the battlefield, this program also explores the profound impact of the war on families here in Farmington. Attendees will gain insight into how spouses, children, and extended kin navigated uncertainty, economic strain, and the emotional toll of separation.

Through carefully researched narratives and local records, this presentation offers a compelling look at how the first years of the Revolution shaped not only a nation, but the lives of the people in our own town.
