Join Braces & Beyond, a community outreach initiative led by dental students from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, for a hands-on oral health workshop that makes learning about teeth both fun and practical!
Children will participate in engaging, age-appropriate activities designed to build lifelong healthy habits. Participants will learn effective brushing and flossing techniques, explore how sugar impacts oral health, and practice brushing on dental models.
What to Expect:
- Interactive Activities: Practice brushing and flossing techniques on dental models.
- Sugar Challenge: Test your knowledge on how much sugar hides in popular snacks and drinks to win fun prizes!
- Braces Care: Older participants can learn easy tricks to keep their teeth and braces clean!
- Fun, Supportive Environment: Small-group activities led by dental students who make learning approachable and enjoyable.
Skill Level:
Beginner: perfect for children learning or refreshing oral hygiene skills.
Materials:
All materials will be provided. Each participant will receive a free oral hygiene kit to take home!
Duration:
Approximately 60 minutes, including all activities, demonstrations and a Q&A.

This program is led by Braces & Beyond co-founders Christina Budzinski and Stephanie Salcines, third-year dental students at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. They’ve taught hundreds of children about oral health through engaging, hands-on community programs across Connecticut!
