Join artist Ruth Sanderson for a reception for Horses, Horses, Horses, the theme of her exhibition at the library for the months of August and September. Ruth will give a short PowerPoint presentation, “Illustrating Horses,” talking about her fairytales featuring horses, illustrating covers for the Black Stallion and Horse Diaries series, and her process of illustrating her newest book, A Storm of Horses: The Story of Artist Rosa Bonheur. In 1981 and 1982 Ruth created the poster artwork for Children’s Services Horse Show at the Farmington Polo Grounds, and those original posters will be on display.

Ruth is a graduate of the Paier College of Art in Connecticut. Her career in children’s books spans 45 years and over 90 illustrated books. She is perhaps best known for her original and retold fairy tales for children, including Cinderella, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, Papa Gatto, The Enchanted Wood, The Crystal Mountain, and The Golden Mare, the Firebird, and the Magic Ring, winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award. Ruth lives in Easthampton, Massachusetts with her family.

A book/print sale and signing will follow the presentation. Refreshments will be served.
