Following the addition of similar bags available at the Farmington Library, 6 Monteith Drive, sensory bags have been developed for the Barney Library, 71 Main Street thanks to the generous support from The Friends of the Farmington Libraries. The items were selected to help children self-regulate by meeting sensory needs.
These kits were designed to assist in making the libraries a more accessible space to those with increased sensory needs or to help a child calm down from a heightened emotional state. Any child can use this kit while visiting the library.
Our Children's Sensory Bags include the following:
- 1 pair of ear defender headphones
- 1 liquid timer
- 3 fidgets
- 1 set of communication cards
A weighted lap pad and felt emotions wheel are available upon request.
These bags are available for in-library use only and can be picked up at the Barney Library Desk and returned before leaving. No library card needed!
