The Farmington Libraries seeks a Youth Services Librarian to work in our Farmington Library located at 6 Monteith Drive in Farmington, Connecticut. The Youth Services team is an exciting and creative group who strive to provide a welcoming and engaging library experience for people aged 0 – grade twelve and their caregivers. Under the direction of the Director of Youth Services, the Youth Services Librarian is responsible for assisting with collection development, planning and leading children’s programs, delivering exemplary customer service to children, parents, caregivers, and local organizations concerned with children. This position is also responsible for the supervision of the Youth Services Department in the absence of the Department Head.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: MLIS from an ALA accredited institution or significant progress towards an MLIS. 2-3 years of experience, with an emphasis on children’s services and collection development in a public library. Must have access to transportation to provide outreach services to local schools and daycare centers. See complete job description for other required and preferred qualifications.
This is a full-time, 35-hours per week position. One evening shift per week and and a Saturday rotation are required.
Salary: $33-37/hour ($60,060-$67,340) with excellent leave and benefits package.
