The Maker Space & Studio
The Maker Space located at the Farmington Library is a place where community members can gather to collaborate, create, learn and invent in a safe space using tools and technologies that they may not otherwise have access to.
The Studio is an experiential learning and media production lab. It is a public space where dreamers and creators can access high-quality equipment and software, whether they’re immersing themselves in virtual reality or producing a wide array of audiovisual media.
Who can use it?
Anyone with a library card in good standing in our system.
How can I use these spaces?
These spaces are available by appointment only. A training appointment is required prior to the use of any of our equipment. Call Information Services at 860-673-6791 or email us at flref@farmingtonlibraries.org to book an appointment.
Is it free?
Mostly, however, there may be a small materials fee.
- 5 cents per gram with a $1 minimum, for the 3D printers – the exact amount will depend upon the size of the job itself.
- 25 cents per button on the Button Maker.
- Laminator costs $1 per page.
- Cricut Mug Press costs $5 per mug.
- Instax Film $1.25 per photo.
- Glowforge material ranges from $15 - $25 per sheet.

The Equipment
Design and print in 3D with the LulzBot Taz 6 3D printer or the Bambulab X1C (X1-carbon).
We can 3D print for you! Send us the file or explore Thingiverse and send us the link. Print jobs over 500 grams will require your own filament. Have questions? Email makerspace@farmingtonlibraries.org.
Produce and edit film, audio, and more with state-of-the-art equipment and software. Ideal for intermediate and experienced users.
Button maker, cost is 25 cents per item.
