Bridge Books

The Kids' Place at the Main Library has just completed a reorganization of some of our bookshelves, which includes the creation of two new categories to replace the previous "Series" section.  

"Bridge Books" are a “bridge” between "I Can Read" books and the longer, more difficult "Fiction" chapter books.  They are shorter chapter books with larger font sizes and sometimes more illustrations.  Many Bridge books are in a series and are shelved by the series title; books not in a series are labeled with the author‘s last name.  

The "Popular" Collection is shelved just before the Bridge books.  This collection of popular characters, series, and franchises includes early readers, fiction, and even nonfiction titles all grouped together. The Popular collection is organized alphabetically by the character, series, or franchise name. Some examples of the Popular collection include Pokémon, Star Wars, and Who Would Win.
