 re, we will track the feudal origins of courtly love, its inversion of gen
 der roles, and the love poems that have immortalized the idea of women &qu
 ot;on a pedestal.&quot;\r\nÂ \r\nBio:\r\nWith a PhD in medieval history, D
 r. Christine Axen is on a mission to make everyone fall in love with the M
 iddle Ages.Â  She is passionate about teaching, both at the university lev
 el and in the public forum, and loves to giveÂ tours at the Met Cloisters.
 Â  Her research specialty is thirteenth-century French religious history, 
 with a focus on the bishop of Avignon, the convent of St Catherine, and sa
 cred space in medieval cities.Â  In all her endeavors, Christine seeks to 
 illuminate female voices of the past, and to share their stories.\r\nThis
