Please join Unionville native, Alan Perrie, for a talk on the history of Unionville’s dams and how they influenced the growth of Unionville.
The 4 dams that shaped Unionville’s history were mostly erased by the Floods of 1938 and 1955. The dam that created Unionville was used only for transportation, but it created the economic incentive to develop 2 larger dams for power. Unionville’s significant growth in the 1800’s was due to its ability to adapt to the changing technology. Physical and photographic evidence of its oldest dam, discovered in 2015, will complete the early history of Unionville and set the stage for its history in the 1900’s.
